Inside Frida Kahlo
You would think that everything has been said by now about this iconic Mexican painter whose work has been very prominent in recent years. However, the exhibition Frida Kahlo, Beyond Appearances, currently at the Palais Galliera, the Fashion Museum of the City of Paris, approaches the artist and her life from a fresh, new angle. Through her clothes and other personal belongings, which are usually housed in the Kahlo family home, you will be able to discover the woman beyond her status as an artist and icon. An intimate and fascinating portrait that you can experience until March 5th, 2023.
Parisian Citizens!
A twenty-minute walk from the Hotel Les Deux Girafes, the Musée d'Histoire de Paris - Carnavalet, which has just reopened after a long period of restoration work, highlights the struggles of women towards emancipation with an exceptional exhibition that will run until January 29th, 2023. Parisian Citizens! The Fight for Emancipation (1789-2000) places a particular focus on feminism in Paris itself. From the French Revolution to the equal pay laws, this extensive historical panorama illustrated with paintings, sculptures, archives, posters, films and artifacts linked with militancy reflect the intensity of the struggles. In a more intimate vision, it also shows the thousand faces of these women who rose up against oppression and in defence of their rights.
There’s a multitude of ways to pay homage to women, especially in Paris. At the end of the year, the Hotel Les Deux Girafes team wanted to highlight two exhibitions that show women in the context of their achievements and on a more intimate level. Meet them in the Palais Galliera and the Musée Carnavalet!
