Monet, Renoir... Chagall: Journeys Around the Mediterranean; an immersion in light
Forget about dusty canvases hanging on the wall and texts explaining the works to you. The Atelier des Lumières takes advantage of the immense spaces of a former foundry, a mute witness to the industrial past of Paris, to project masterpieces in a dynamic way. Each space is used in its entirety from floor to ceiling and carefully selected music adds to the immersive experience. It’s fascinating for art enthusiasts and neophytes alike, as well as lots of fun for children.
The Mediterranean in the spotlight
Up to now, the digital exhibitions of the Atelier des Lumières have mainly been devoted to one or two artists at a time. This new presentation follows the evolution of the treatment of a subject, the Mediterranean, in the various artistic currents. Light is obviously at the heart of the journey from the first Impressionists such as Monet and Renoir to the modern art of Chagall, by way of Fauvism and Pointillism. You can see how the Mediterranean scenery inspired artistic creativity, discern the differences in style and technique or simply let yourself be carried away by the emotions inspired by the exquisite beauty of the works displayed. Your Hotel Les Deux Girafes loves its district, the 11th arrondissement. There is so much going on here, off the beaten track. The Atelier des Lumières is an essential part of this and its new exhibition promises to be a wonder! Discover it from February 28th, 2020 to January 3rd, 2021.
