The world of contemporary art in Paris
Some 160 galleries from all over the world are expected for this 47th edition of the Foire Internationale d’Art Contemporain (International Contemporary Art Fair) in Paris, taking place from October 21st to 24th. To this impressive number we can add about forty virtual participants as well as many initiatives being actioned by various Parisian galleries. So, the FIAC will certainly offer a huge showcase of all the trends of current creation, on all continents. And while this wide-ranging art fair allows professionals to meet and work together, it also offers neophytes a friendly gateway to art that is not always easily accessible.
At the temporary Grand Palais and throughout Paris
The FIAC is essentially centred on the exhibitions of the galleries to be found in the pop-up environment of the temporary Grand Palais, the actual Grand Palais being closed for renovations. However, numerous events and exhibitions are happening elsewhere in the city. You can admire the monumental Alexander Calder sculpture called Flying Dragon in the Place Vendôme, and the twenty or so creations installed in the Jardin des Tuileries. Don’t miss the performances by artists in the Louvre auditorium, Pompidou Centre and the Bourse du Commerce, the latest venue for contemporary art in Paris.
