On September 17th and 18th, the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days) will be held for the 39th time. The annual success of the event confirms the public's interest in national, monumental or popular, industrial or artistic heritage. A fifteen-minute walk from the hotel, you can step through the door of a very discreet place: the Grande Loge Feminine de France. This emblematic 11th arrondissement building formerly belonged to the Couvent du Bon Secours complex dating from the mid-17th century. On the guided tour, you'll learn about the history of the building, its neighbourhood, and even a little about the activities of this women-only Masonic lodge. In the neighbouring 10th arrondissement, head to the huge Hôpital Saint-Louis to visit its chapel. Its first stone was laid by Henri IV in 1607. From architecture to artworks, you will discover all its secrets!
All the diversity of Paris
Here are two visits that will immerse you in two totally different aspects of Paris. Head to the oldest Protestant church in Paris, the Temple du Marais. Designed in the 17th century by the architect François Mansart for the Visitandines convent, the Temple is a magnificent example of French Baroque and houses exquisite 18th century paintings. Then you can visit a superb example of early 20th century architecture: the Grand Rex. The legendary cinema opens its backstage area to the public and offers guided tours so visitors can learn all about its architecture, history, and tales from its past.
